What’s a blog?

Today, someone asked me:
"first i dont get whats this a blog?"
I responded:
"A blog is a web page where someone post all and nothing, the everyday thoughts, what’s happening lately, what he/she did lately. Blogs are part of the cyberculture and became popular around the recent Irak war and pre-war, when very few journalists were still in the country so that blogs from Irakiens became one of the very few source of information of what’s happening in Irak, especially in Bagdad. Blogs are famous too for the interaction with the world of work, for instance a Microsoft employee was fired after he published photos of Macintosh computers delivered to the Microsoft campus. There are many other stories about blogs, I’ll stop here or I’ll fell I’ll be pretty boring. ;-)"
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=microsoft+blog+fired gives lot of links about the Microsoft blogger misfortune.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=blog says: "an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log"
Duh, I look stupid and imprecise now with my long text turning around the topic but not getting to the point: an online diary.
