Audio codecs

Today as I received a .flac file from a friend, I "googled" for the matching audio codec and found:

What is nice with Direct Show codecs is that they are available to any player under Windows, so you’re free to choose your player afterwards.

The friend pointed me afterwards to:
FFdshow – "it is really fast, very configurable, supports large number of video and audio formats (including FLAC, OGG, MP3, AAC, MPEG4, MPEG4/x264 and a lot of others). Also it works in VirtualDub as video encoder. "

(look for ffdshow-20050803.exe)

(Also I had to do this post twice – the first time it remained blank, all text was lost, god of computers knows why)
